(Some English words of Japanese origin)

I visited Tokyo, Japan during the winter break with my family. It has been at least 10 years since I last been there. My memory of Tokyo was fading away, but I didn't feel like much has changed to this city.
寒假去了趟日本。上一次去已经是十年前。虽然记得不多但感觉东京没什么变化。

I think Japanese people's English skills has improved drastically... or at least for people in Tokyo. And from my experience studying abroad, it's usually the Chinese students who are struggling with English, not the Japanese students.
这次发觉日本人的英文水平有很大提高… 至少是东京人。而且出国念书一般英语不好的也不是日本学生，都是中国学生。

Anyway, I was in a restaurant outside of the city. We ordered some dumplings and they were delicious. When we tried to order another one, the menu was no longer at the table. I asked for "dumplings" but the waitress couldn't understand. So I said "gyoza" and she immediately understood.
我在城外一家餐厅吃饭。我们点了点饺子，超好吃。后来想点更多但是菜单已经被拿走了。所以我就管服务生小姐姐要dumplings，但是她没听懂。后来我说gyoza她就马上懂了。

My parents don't speak English at all, so they thought I was communicating with that girl in Japanese. They were super impressed but I was just using an alternative word lol. Gyoza is one of those words that originally came from Japan. So I thought it might be interesting to come up with a list of words of Japanese origin. Some of those words might come from China, but you know... the fluidity of cultural heritage is something worth embracing. So here's the list of some of those frequently used words: (I had to rely on Wikipedia a little)
我爸妈不讲英文啦，所以他们以为我用日语解决了刚刚那个点菜的情况。他们觉得我好厉害哈哈哈哈但其实我就是换了个英文词啊。这就是今天这个节目的起源想法。英文很多词汇借鉴于日语，虽然有一些词很有可能是日本借中国的，但是这种文化的流动性也是美感所在嘛～ 借维基百科之力（嘘），我找了一些比较高频的词汇分享给你们。之后你们也可以假装自己会日语了……?
